The Pioneer Woman’s Books
{I’m gonna get my read on}
When I went to my first blog conference,
I was given some fabulous insight.
One of the speakers said,
If you really want to take your blog to the next level,
you will have to make sacrifices–don’t kid yourself.
I remember thinking,
Neh, I can do it all.
Ha.
I was wrong.
Each and every day,
this blog
and the relationships I have made with many of you
have become an important part of my life,
an important part of my identity.
And I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I have had to make sacrifices.
Some of those sacrifices have been good for me:
I watch MUCH less TV.
And I do far less random Internet browsing.
I shop less.
And then some of those sacrifices, I’m a bit sad about:
I NEVER read books anymore.
I canceled my gym membership.
I only get 5 hours of sleep a night.
And that’s just the way it is.
And for the most part, I’m okay with that.
I hope one day, I will find the perfect balance…
Isn’t that what we’re all looking for?
But, the other day,
I was listening to a bunch of my girlfriends gush about
their latest book obsession…
and I was jealous.
I found myself longing for those nights
when I would stay up until 3 in the morning
because I just couldn’t wait to see what would happen on the next page.
And in that moment, I made a decision.
I am going to read a book.
A real book,
with real pages
made out of actual paper.
But I don’t want to sacrifice
in order to make time to read that book
{because I’m a brat like that}.
Solution:
Choose a book that is also a part of the blogging world.
One that many of you have also read,
or may be interested in reading with me.
So naturally, I chose The Pioneer Woman’s book:
Black Heels to Tractor Wheels.
The one about her love story to the Marlboro Man.
You know, the guy with the cowboy tush:
And I love me a good ol’ love story.
Especially when its true.
So I ordered the book.
It will be here in two days.
And then, you mark my words:
I will read my first book in over a year.
Yee Haw!
Are you in?
Nina @ Momma Go Round
I give it 2 days before you're done with it. It's ridiculous!

I was just telling someone the other day, to have a really successful blog you have to invest time. And I don't have that kind of time right now. Professional blogging really is a job. A real job that takes 8 hours a day. I am thankful that many women can do it though, cause I love reading blogs.
You now what I love? Books for the kindle app. I get to read a lot more in bed with free books from Amazon. 🙂
Another one floating around blogging land is Made to Crave. I got it free on Kindle.

I've just discovered Ree Drummond's blog and I definitely want to get my hands on that book asap. Let us know what you think of it!
Miranda
I read it in one sitting, it was great! I'm a little in love with Ree. Mostly because my husband brags about my cooking now thanks to her cookbook. 😉
BATrombetta

I know what you mean about sacrifice. I started a blog in January to document my baby's life..and even though I am no where NEAR your amount of success…I still feel like this is part of my stay-at-home mommy role. Which means, along with everything else going on, blogging gives me less time for other things. I hadn't read a book in awhile, and I am usually an avid reader. So, I too made the decision last week to pick up a book and read. And now I find the time (because I am reading an AWESOME BOOK–The Book of Negroes). I find myself closing my laptop earlier at night, and less browsing other blogs. It is a nice change! Enjoy!!
Marianne
I love her cookbook. Since I am doing mealplanning today I think I will check her blog for some recipes to use and also use her cookbook. I have not read her newest book that you are about to embark on, but I just got a Sony E-reader and I love it. I can check out books online at my local library and read anytime as it doesn't take up much space among all the diapers in my purse. So far I have read two books in one month which is a record for me these past couple of years.
Becky
You will love the book. It's a great and easy read. Definitely worth the read:) I got sucked in and read the whole Part 1 on PW's blog and pre-ordered the book. You won't be disappointed;)
Lindsay
OK I need to jump the band wagon! 🙂 Im the SAME way with books now. When do we have the time??
Erin
I'm part of a book club, so I won't be reading this book..but force myself to read a book a month just so I can have a girls night out. So worth the partially sleepless nights.
Ashley
Pioneer Woman is fantastic! She's my hero! 🙂

Reading books is a luxury I sacrificed after having kids. I've tried to pick up books here and there, but unless they just grab me right away, I usually end up putting them down and never picking them back up again. I think it's great that you are making this commitment to read…a real book. Blogging does cause us to sacrifice a lot, but hopefully we will one day figure out a way to have it all! Just call me Pollyanna 😉
Shannon
You are so fabulous! And a cutie patootie as well! It's so funny that I just posted (today) about reading an old book too! I say great minds think alike! I've enjoyed stalking, I mean admiring your blog :)! You make ME a better ME!

You will love it! It is a fabulous story, very easy to read and makes you love Ree even more. (if thats even possible) 🙂
Stephanie
I haven't read that one yet. Funny, though, that the real original marlboro man was actually gay. He spoke to us about AIDS back in the eighties – super cool guy. I'll have to check it out!
Lee Ann
I have this book in my pile of books to read. 🙂

I too miss my reading. This time last year i was spending about four to five hours a day minimum reading. I was studying for my literature comp exams, but I still LOVED it. I needed a break from reading for a bit, but now I am ready to read again. I am ready for some intellectual stimulation. All this has me considering that it may be time to start a Phd program, but then when would I blog? When would I read your blog and the other ones I love?
PeaceLoveApplesauce
I have this downloaded on my Nook.. It sounds so cute!! I love PW's blog!
Have you joined GoodReads? If not, do it now! You can set goals for yourself on reading books and it also keeps track of everything you want to read. It's like facebook for reading. All your friends + good books, it rocks!!
jeanna
All this talk about the book makes me want to go out and read it. I love reading. Even though my busy days, I try hard to set time for a few pages of book reading. This will be on my "to read" list!

Herve Leger, Oktoberfest outfit people tend to wear our collections together, as one piece. But I like them as separates; it’s almost cooler,” she says. “I would put this jacket with a pair of jeans or a work skirt. And of course it all but if you’re in L.A.

Regarding books, I can definitely say that there are different works. I love to read very much and try to do it more often. Luckily I have already found a great book called The Handmaid’s Tale, I really love that story. It’s a life story by the way, a lot of people are in a similar position right now. You can also here https://studydriver.com/the-handmaids-tale-essay/ read an essay on the subject of this gorgeous work. I’m glad I found it here and learned more about it.
